Recycled Glass Countertop / Food SAFE Sealers.

Email cornerstone.surface.designs@gmail.com for design ideas, questions, estimates on concrete countertops!

Hi, Here is a requested photo of a recycled glass in a concrete countertop. To answer the question of food safe sealers for kitchens, your best choice it to use a water-based, penetrating sealer first. Usually about three applications, followed by natural waxes for added protection is best. The end result will be a beautiful protected shine, safe enough for the kitchen.

  1. Fantastic site! I'm hoping to build (or have built) a concrete countertop for an outdoor food prep area, and eventually for my indoor kitchen as well.

I'd love to know whether you think this water-based sealer is the right/best to use (because I already have some): http://preview.tinyurl.com/cghg2x

    Thanks!

  2. Hello, Thank you for the comment. Water based sealer paired with natural waxes work great if you already have the desired color in the countertop. Other sealers such as poly-urethanes, and lacquer will darken the color, and give a wet coating look. Almost the same as when you soak the concrete countertop with water.
